How does ANY weather re****ting system (manual or automatic) cause an
airplane to fly into wires? This is either a mechanical issue or
failure by the pilot to fly the appropriate takeoff profile..
I fly out of KRCQ all the time. The wires at the West end of runway
24 are not that high. One would have to fly a VERY shallow departure
to even come close to hitting them. There are no wires on the East
end.
The crash in 2006 was on landing and was due to a very high approach
speed and a seriouly long float. The aircraft ran off the end of the
runway and impacted a group of self-storage buildings.
