KLN94 - why some RNAV arrivals are not coded?

by Peter <nospam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 2, 2008 at 02:02 PM

I've just played with the KLN94 and for LOWW (Vienna, Austria) it
contains the following under "Arrivals"

ASTU7W
GAML4W
GBG5W
GIGO1W
GRZ6W
LANU3W
LEDV1W
LNZ6W
MASU1W
MIKO6W
NIMD1W
REKL1W
TOVK2W
VENE1W
XANU1W

The above are all STARs. None of the "RNAV transition" arrivals e.g.
NER1K or MAB1K (Jeppview plate 10-2F) are provided. However their
waypoints e.g. for MAB1K:

MABOD
WW851
WW852
WW853
WW813
WW812
WW811

are all included! So it would be easy (if time consuming, and I guess
illegal) to enter this manually.

I have checked for the possibility of NER1K etc being included in the
KLN94 under "approaches" but the only stuff there are the various ILS
etc standard approach procedures.

I wonder why Honeywell did not include these RNAV routes, since they
are no different to any other STARs - other than in their vertical
management but the GPS does not help with anything 'vertical' anyway.

AIUI, vertically, on a STAR you fly the last clearance, but on these
transitions you could be authorised fly/descend as per the plate; as a
default situation this seems to be the only difference.
