Re: Satellite phone antenna mounting

I had GS.  It doesn't work in the CONUS.  Period.  Had the phone for 
three months last summer.  Not once did it ever connect with the 
satellites and thus the network.  Not once.  GS of course knows this and 
that's why they have the current plan where the monthly rate drops by 
$10 every year.  The online gap finder is a joke.  GS got caught with 
its pants down and let its sats get old.  They are starting to launch 
new ones but the network is at least 5 years away from being functional 
on any kind of a regular basis for duplex communications.  Simplex comm, 
such as the SPOT beacon and text/email works great because it uses a 
different part of the network dedicated to simplex operations.  GS is 
hemorrhaging subscribers and has been for the last couple of years.  If 
they can survive as a company until the new sats get up they would be 
worth going back to, but you'd be foolish to set up service now.  All 
this can be found with a Google search.
