I get great service from global star. There are times that there are gaps
in 
the service the online gap re****ts are +/- 5 min but if you have a modern 
phone (I have a GSP1700) 80% of the time it works. The gaps are worth the 
savings also having a local number vs. 0088 international number of a 
Iridium Phone that cost people $$$ to call you and the GSP-1700 is light 
weight vs. Iridium and takes standard connectors GPS/Power/Headset. Most
of 
all battery lasts compared to the Iridium Phone.

I will have an Iridium Phone when I do pacific crossings as there is no 
globalstar coverage over the pacific routes. But for Atlantic it works 
better than using an HF radio that you can barely communicate. Takes 3 min

to do a Position Re****t on the phone.
