Trying to answer what I think the original questioner wanted – the
im****tant speeds are the limit for the method of launching (max winch or
max a*****ow); max rough air; max deploy airbrakes/spoilers; VNE. The
instructor should tell you which of these you need to know, when, and what
they are. In the UK they are displayed on a placard in the cockpit. The
stalling speed is usually quoted as a fixed figure for level flight, and
is not usually displayed.
Other speeds of im****tance are those for min sink rate and best glider.
Again, the instructor should tell you these. Final approach speed depends
on wind etc. on the day.
Weight and Balance (in the UK at least) is covered by a table listing
combinations or front and rear seat pilot weights. The instructor should
cover this in pre-flight checks.
I would hope that all instructors taking a power pilot up for the first
time in a sailplane would do a walk round, pointing out features of design
– long wings, more aileron drag, so need rudder more, etc. – that affect
differences from pwwer in handling the controls. Some gliders have
zooming ailerons and/or differential ailerons that might be explained.
