OK, replying to myself isn't a good sign!  If you want to prepare,
look for an introductory book to gliding - Derek Piggott has written a
number of them which I suspect are available in the US.  A lot of it
will be obvious to a power man, but a lot of it will be different.
Hopefully you can find one in a lending library, or maybe on Ebay for
