this I think is one of the biggest problems with the lack of growth in 
soaring today...
We fail to realize that soaring of all sorts is meant to be fun and is 
fun.....at all levels but if we keep telling our students, club members
and 
those who come to check us out that flying anything less than a new 
super****p is "less than" or not fun they too will believe it...

still use a K7 as our
basic 
club trainer it does a good job and does it at a lower cost than other 
options....we get $5.00 for rental and typical tow to 2000' are still just

over $20.00.....instruction is free....  once soloed we move student up to

the K8.....still $5.00 a flight...
if we told them these were just old clunky gliders and not worthy of their

interest I'm sure they too would see them this way, but as it is, they are

still fun.......and affordable....and it allows more people of different 
backgrounds to partake in the s****t....for the fun of it..
